A newly engaged couple laughing face to face

Mount Pleasant · East Texas

Refined elegance.
Real texture.
Your story.

Portraits for couples, seniors and families, made in the last golden hour of the day.

The name

Grace is the people.
Grain is the texture around them.

Weathered wood, old brick, a worn sign on a porch. East Texas has plenty of both, and I love putting them in the same frame. The result is photos that feel polished without losing what is real about you.

What I photograph

A couple embracing in a garden

Couples & engagements

No stiff smiles. I get you two talking, teasing each other and forgetting I am there. Perfect for save-the-dates, anniversaries, or just because.

Seniors & graduates

Senior year goes fast. Cap and gown, the letter jacket, the instrument, the truck or the dog. We will make portraits that look like you.

Families & portraits

They are only this little once. About an hour of your time, and you will have these photos for the rest of your life. Pets are family, so they are always welcome.

Meet the photographer

Hi, I'm Chance.

I am the photographer behind Grace & Grain, based right here in Mount Pleasant. I never say “say cheese.” I would rather catch the laugh that happens in between the poses, the quiet look when you think nobody is watching, the hat that gets stolen halfway through.

Most of my sessions start right before sunset, when the light turns warm and soft and everybody looks their best. And I always make sure you leave with the classic one that ends up framed on Grandma's wall.

I would love to tell your story.

Questions

Before you book

We are awkward in front of a camera.

Everybody says that. You do not have to know how to pose; that is my job. I will tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands and when to just laugh at each other. Most people tell me afterward it was a lot more fun than they expected.

What should we wear?

Coordinate, don't match. Pick two or three colors that get along, then let everyone wear their own version. Skip big logos and neon. I am happy to help you plan outfits before we shoot.

Where do sessions happen?

Anywhere that fits your story: downtown Mount Pleasant, a park, a pasture, your own front porch. If you do not have a spot in mind, I am always scouting new ones.

What time of day is best?

Golden hour, the last hour of sunlight. The sun gets low, the light turns warm and soft, and it makes a good photo great. Sunrise works beautifully too if you are an early bird.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes. Dogs, horses, even the show calf. If they are part of the family, they belong in the photo.

Any tips for photos with little kids?

Feed them first. A snack before the session, a nap if you can manage it, and leave the rest to me. I have plenty of tricks to get real smiles out of little ones.

How do we get our photos?

Your finished photos arrive in a private online gallery. You can view them on your phone, share the link with family and download everything.

How much does a session cost?

It depends on the kind of session. Send me a message with what you have in mind and I will get you the details.
